It Stares Us Down: Circular Reading
25 Mar 2017
Sculptor and performance artist Nicola Dale presents newly commissioned works exploring how, why and what we read. Nicola has researched the venue’s history, it’s architectural features, the character of its users and the nature of reading nowadays, with particular emphasis on generational differences. The new artworks will provide the public with a range of unexpected and enjoyable encounters with art, ranging from subtle interventions to bolder, theatrical pieces.
A sculpture with accompanying text, this work is inspired by the unusual story of Manchester’s third chief librarian, Andrea Crestadoro. The text will encourage visitors to imagine themselves as performers.
